“Wildfires ~ A Tribute to Firefighters”

The featured photograph above is a beautiful and typical sunrise in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.  Yet, recently, the wildfires out west (several states away) have caused smoke and haze in the mountains and environment of Colorado in general.   The photographs below are a recent sunrise trying to appear through the smoke and finally basking in its glory rising above the haze.   The experience  reminds me of how connected we are as both the earth and humanity.  The experience has also reminded me to be grateful for the wonderful firefighters around our country who display bravery and courage as an extraordinary profession and volunteers who provide a service to all of us.  So, THANK YOU – and may you always be protected.  The Firefighter’s Prayer, author unknown, is beautiful and hopefully some firefighters might read this post and feel more blessed, protected and honored.
Firefighter’s Prayer
“When I am called to duty, God, wherever flames may rage,
give me strength to save a life, whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child before it is too late,
or save an older person from the horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert, and hear the weakest shout,
quickly and efficiently to put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling, to give the best in me,
to guard my friend and neighbor, and protect his property.
And if according to Your will I must answer death’s call,
bless with your protecting hand, my family one and all.”
